About
What Lokavidu is
Lokavidu is an English-language reference library on Thai Buddhist amulets and the tradition around them: the monks who make them, the rituals that awaken them, the culture that wears them. The site's job is accuracy in a field crowded with hype. Beliefs are reported as beliefs, history as history, market facts as market facts, and nothing here is written to move a price.
The name is the fifth of the nine virtues of the Buddha recited in the Itipiso, the chant heard at amulet consecrations across Thailand: lokavidu, Knower of Worlds. Readers inside the tradition will recognize it. Everyone else can treat it as a promise about scope.
Who writes it
Joon Lee is a writer and practitioner based in Surat Thani, southern Thailand. He came to the amulet world as a devotee first and a researcher second, and Lokavidu is the reference he wished existed when he began: documented, calm, written without breathless claims and without condescension.
Independence
Lokavidu sells nothing, carries no advertising, holds no commercial partnerships, and accepts no payment or consideration from any dealer, temple, auction platform, or brand. No one can pay to appear here, and coverage is never exchanged for access or objects.
