LP Thuad origin temple · Pattani

Why it matters

Wat Chang Hai is the birthplace of the Luang Pu Thuad amulet tradition. Ajahn Tim Dhammatharo created the first LP Thuad amulets here in 2497 BE (1954), and that documented beginning is what gives the temple its place in the amulet world.

The temple continues to issue annual editions, which carry the origin temple's stamp. For collectors and devotees, that origin stamp matters: it ties a piece back to the place where the modern tradition started.

What to see

The LP Thuad memorial shrine is the focal point of a visit. The temple counter makes the annual editions available at the source.

Wat Chang Hai's setting is part of its meaning. Its mosque-adjacent location reflects the multicultural character of the deep south, where Thai Buddhist and Malay Muslim communities live side by side.
