paritta

Protective recitations from the Pali canon, chanted during ceremonies to invoke the Buddha's blessing power. Include the Itipiso (the nine virtues of the Buddha), the Mangala Sutta, and other canonical texts. The Itipiso is the origin of the name Lokavidu.
